How do you define elegance? To me, elegance is a dignified simplicity. An unassuming confidence. A consistency and authenticity. It is the practice of being, speaking, looking, behaving in a refined manner.
Elegance has nothing to do with bank accounts or material possessions. It has nothing to do with luxury goods or expensive vacations.
Elegance is a practice – a way of being/existing. It is someone or something that is authentically refined.
When I think about styling my home, elegance is something that I associate with quality. Quality goods. Quality furniture. Quality art. Quality design. Now, notice I didn’t say expensive. Because quality and expense don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand. I think elegant design is timeless. Elegant design is the ability to breathe and exist in a space that is both comfortable & functional that is so well thought out that most people wouldn’t even notice it…but they would feel it.
Elegance is what I am after in every facet of life.
XO,
Ruthie
